Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Progress OpenEdge Developer (ABL / 4GL) with strong expertise in Progress OpenEdge / ABL (Progress 4GL) development to support enhancements, maintenance, and modernization efforts for enterprise operational systems. This role will work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to support mission-critical applications in a fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do
- Enhance and maintain existing OpenEdge applications
- Troubleshoot production and operational issues
- Support integrations with external systems and reporting platforms
- Participate in technical design and solution discussions
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to prioritize and deliver enhancements
- Assist with modernization initiatives where applicable Candidate Profile
- Strong communicator
- Self-directed and capable of working with limited oversight
- Comfortable navigating legacy enterprise environments
- Able to balance speed, stability, and business impact
Required Experience
Strong hands-on experience with:
- Progress OpenEdge
- ABL / Progress 4GL
- OpenEdge database development
- Experience developing and supporting enterprise business applications
- Ability to troubleshoot and enhance legacy operational systems
- Experience working with integrations, APIs, or modern connected architectures
- Strong SQL and relational database knowledge
- Experience gathering requirements and working directly with business users
- Comfortable working independently in a consulting-style environment
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Experience with EPS Radius
- Experience in:
- Distribution
- Manufacturing
- ERP/WMS systems
- Supply chain operations
- Experience modernizing legacy systems or exposing OpenEdge functionality via
APIs/services
- Familiarity with cloud or analytics integrations
