Position Summary

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who will serve as a technical lead on client-facing data projects. You’ll architect and implement scalable solutions, mentor engineers, and collaborate closely with analysts, BI developers, software engineers, and AI specialists. This is a consulting-facing role where you’ll be expected to own the end-to-end engineering lifecycle—from infrastructure and ETL to data delivery and client engagement—using tools like Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, and Databricks. You will also work closely with the Business Intelligence (BI) team to scope, design, and architect data solutions that meet analytic needs and enable high-impact insights.

What You’ll Do

Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Serve as technical lead on client engagements, driving architecture and implementation
- Architect modern data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, and Databricks
- Collaborate with the BI team to scope and architect solutions that support reporting, dashboarding, and analytics use cases
- Define and implement secure, scalable, and performant pipelines
- Lead infrastructure setup including environments, CI/CD, and automation (e.g., Terraform)
- Make decisions on storage models, integration patterns, and architecture trade-offs

Data Engineering & Development
- Build ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft Fabric Dataflows, Data Factory, Snowflake, and Databricks
- Optimize data pipelines for real-time, near-real-time, and batch processes
- Implement data validation, quality, lineage, and governance standards
- Support semantic modeling and gold-layer creation for BI and AI consumption Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Translate BI/AI requirements into actionable data engineering work
- Partner with BI developers and analysts to design data structures that align with business reporting needs
- Coordinate with AI engineers and software developers to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Help manage and provide oversight of BI initiatives when necessary

Project Planning & Estimation
- Break down client requirements into phased, prioritized engineering tasks
- Scope ingestion sources, transformation needs, and future enhancements
- Accurately estimate task durations and identify interdependencies
- Drive Jira backlog creation, refinement, and planning

Oversight & Mentorship
- Mentor standard Data Engineers; guide development and best practices
- Review code and validate that solutions meet functional and performance expectations
- Enforce naming conventions, architectural consistency, and documentation quality
- Ensure efficient use of hours and maintain project budgets

Client Engagement & Delivery
- Serve as the data engineering expert on client calls and reviews
- Lead technical design walkthroughs and knowledge transfer (KT) sessions
- Translate technical options into business impacts for clients
- Support project and product leads by managing technical scope and feasibility
- Identify additional opportunities for technical solutions or future phases


What You Bring

Required Experience

- 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience, with at least 1–2 years in a technical lead role
- Proven experience with Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, and Databricks
- Strong understanding of data modeling for reporting and analytics
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Terraform, and cloud-native infrastructure
- Experience collaborating with BI teams to align engineering with reporting needs
- Strong client communication and consulting experience
- Experience working in agile, collaborative project environments


Bonus points

- Experience with BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
- Interest in ML model deployment and AI-driven analytics.
- Understanding of Azure and AWS networking concepts.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and compliance standards (GDPR, HIPAA,
SOC 2).
